Why is Pentecostalism so huge among Latinos?
June 14th, 2011 by admin No comments »One of the largest and fastest growing Protestant groups of the twentieth and twenty first centuries has been the Pentecostal movement. The movement has seen tremendous growth, leading to religious freedom in Latin America, but also to strong reactions against dictatorships and the traditional church which has been led by staunch conservative clergy with agendas to further their own well being. To observe a few growth factors for the movement in Latin America, read the complete paper.
Una Cita Con el Rey (An Appointment with the King)
June 9th, 2011 by pjimenez 1 comment »On my previous post I shared with everyone that we were attempting to put a play together. I want to thank everyone that helped bring this play to fruition! It turned out to be quite a production; complete with lighting (Mario, Chuy, Antonio), costumes (Yoly Moya, Sister Barrera, Chayo), scenery (The Mauricio Sisters), and an original script written by yours trully.
The acting was superb! We had stellar performances from the queen herself (Selene), Mardoqueo (bro. Nicholas), Principe Aman (bro. Ruben Mauricio), to name just a few (in fact if you ask me, though I might be a bit biased, every actor in the play did an amazing job). And a spectacular perfomance by Uswaldo Vasquez in portraying King Asuero.
We will be uploading the entire play soon! Be on the lookout for it, and of course all comments are welcome. Including ideas on how to improve future performances. On behalf of all the cast and crew, we hope you enjoy!!

June Play
April 25th, 2011 by pjimenez No comments »We will be putting on a play this June based on the life of Queen Esther as told by the book in the Bible by the same name. I encourage you to be there to watch! It is a story that combines the realities of patriarchy, the exploitation of women, and a truly selfless act by an individual to save her people.
If interested in participating contact Yolanda Moya or me through this post and we’ll find a spot for you. We not only need actors and actresses, but we also need costume designers, set designers, artists, and consultants. Join in and be a part of this production!
